First created in 2006 by the comic book artist K.C. Green, the viral cartoon character \u201cDick Butts,\u201d has since turned into one of the internet\u2019s most popular memes making appearances across 4chan, Reddit, and similar sites.<\/p>\n<p>In 2007, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.urbandictionary.com\/define.php?term=dickbutt\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Urban Dictionary<\/a> added an entry about \u201cdickbutts\u201d which was followed by BuzzFeed including a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buzzfeed.com\/theuniblogger\/sir-a-message-from-batman-dick-butt-bhd\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dick Butt comic<\/a> in a feature article on its site in 2009.<\/p>\n<p>Inside Punk6529\u2019s Open Metaverse, CDB has a dedicated space, with its NFTs selling regularly for thousands of dollars \u2013 even during the 2022 NFT market collapse.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The original release in March 2021 for CDB consisted of <a href=\"https:\/\/opensea.io\/collection\/cryptodickbutts\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Series 1 and Series 2<\/a> (\u201cOG\u201d), which were capped at 52 and 104 NFTs, respectively. <a href=\"https:\/\/opensea.io\/collection\/cryptodickbutts-s3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Series 3<\/a> quickly followed in July 2021, comprising 5,200 NFTs in total.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-new-approach-to-ownership\">New approach to ownership?<\/h2>\n<p>Unlike traditional NFT releases, the minting of S4 will persist until certain predetermined conditions are met.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>However, as of late Tuesday afternoon, there have already been conversations on CryptoTwitter that S4 may have already minted out. This is not confirmed yet.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>At the heart of its announcement is its decision to \u201cpass the torch\u201d of ownership over to the biggest holder while placing significant power in the community\u2019s hands. Through its community-established DAO, the CryptoDickbutt DAO, holders across the OG and Series 3 collections (and presumably Series 4) are tasked with the mission of acquiring a physical \u201cGooch Island\u201d that will give holders and their CDB NFTs \u201ca place to roam freely.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The likelihood of CDB\u2019s project trajectory changing course is also something that won\u2019t be known for some time.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How is ownership determined?<\/h2>\n<p>The determination of ownership, according to Tuesday\u2019s tweet, will employ specific \u201cmultipliers\u201d based on the quantity of CDB\u2019s held:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Series 1 (S1): 5x multiplier<\/li>\n<li>Series 2 (S2): 5x multiplier<\/li>\n<li>Series 3 (S3): 2x multiplier<\/li>\n<li>Series 4 (S4): 1x multiplier<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What\u2019s the community saying?<\/h2>\n<p>The announcement has elicited a range of responses from those in the NFT community, with some viewing it as a revolutionary step that helps to democratize ownership.
