Through this collaboration, which was established earlier this year, Pace Verso and Art Blocks will\u00a0 present the first NFT project by the Tokyo- and London-based artist duo A.A. Murakami. Titled Floating World Genesis, the NFT series, which serves as an ode to primordial life on Earth, will launch on December 21 at 12 p.m. EST\u00a0 and be available for purchase on artblocks.io.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\nThe first component of a multidisciplinary project by A.A. Murakami, Floating World Genesis comprises 250 unique\u00a0 NFTs, each depicting one of three animated scenes chronicling the origins of life on Earth: a single microbial bubble\u00a0 that may split in two; clusters of self-organizing bubbles that represent the growth of multicellular life; and a single\u00a0 bubble situated on the horizon, signifying the formation of the Earth\u2019s biosphere. Inspired by the Miller-Urey\u00a0 experiment of 1953, which simulated conditions of the early Earth to explore how life first formed in the primordial\u00a0 oceans through self-organizing bubbles, the Floating World Genesis NFTs possess tranquil, meditative, hypnotic\u00a0 qualities often associated with minimalist painting and the Light and Space movement. Bubbles have been an\u00a0 enduring source of inspiration for A.A. Murakami, whose seminal work <\/span>New Spring <\/span><\/i>(2017) is an interactive, multi sensory installation that produces mist-filled blossoms.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\nThe formal dynamism of Floating World Genesis, which explores the kinetic possibilities of semi-abstracted bubbles,\u00a0 belies the project\u2019s technical complexity and its wide range of generative effects. Opacities and diffusions of color vary\u00a0 among the NFTs, as do the shapes and positions of the bubbles. Clear bubbles depicted against gradation\u00a0 backgrounds feature refractions of light and color. Some of the NFTs are stereoscopic, allowing viewers to have a\u00a0 three-dimensional experience and immersing them in a world of buoyant, ethereal bubbles.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\nA.A.
