To be sure, the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/nftevening.com\/donald-trumps-nft-trading-cards-sell-out-in-under-24-hours\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Donald Trump NFT trading cards<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> sold out in less than a day, raking in over $4.5 million. However, according to NFT Twitter sleuths, the project has dubious origins. Apparently, the team behind the NFT collection already has another failed project to their name. However, the company is \u201cnot owned, managed or controlled by Donald J. Trump.\u201d And here\u2019s the thing, no one really knows who actually owns this company.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Meanwhile, a Discord Security Auditor, who goes by the name \u201cPlum\u201d on Twitter, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Plumferno\/status\/1604992079645614080?s=20&amp;t=r-zv800aukJsfSDj8qhtGA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">alleged<\/a> that Dylan and Bill Zanker, who created Sylvester Stallone\u2019s PlanetSly NFT collection, are behind the Trump NFTs. They claimed that Dylan had contacted them in January 2022 for Discord security services for the PlanetSly project. However, the duo eventually did not take up Plum\u2019s services. The project in itself failed to fully launch, with the last Tweet from them being in June.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWhen the Trump NFT launched, it was immediately apparent that it was done by the same people behind the Stallone project,\u201d Plum tweeted. \u201cThe art looked very similar, the websites were nearly identical (even down to the FAQ wording).\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Besides, \u201cboth the Trump site and the Stallone one both have their \u201cSponsors\u201d listed at addresses in Park City, Utah \u2013 which is where Bill Zanker lives. They aren\u2019t \u2018real\u2019 places, however, they\u2019re UPS Store PO Boxes.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The artist\u2014Clark Mitchell, was also allegedly the same. So was the email used by both Trump NFT and PlanetSly. And here\u2019s where things get interesting\u2014Plum alleged that Trump and Bill Zanker are partners, having even co-written a 2009 book and hosted a charity together. But, soon after Trump launched his collection, the project teams allegedly \u201chid, changed, or scrubbed\u201d their social media profiles. Seemingly, some of these also included images of clothing brands from Amazon and Walmart. Ironically, some even allegedly featured the Shutterstock and Adobe logos. Similarly, The Young Turks journalist, Matthew Sheffield showed that Trump\u2019s NFT image of himself as a cowboy was a \u201cslightly altered\u201d Amazon image.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Many Twitter users alleged that this was a clear case of copyright infringement. Several others also called the Trump NFT collection a scam.
