His work often explores the concept of the future and features shimmering, multicolored worlds that suggest alternate realities. Born in Grenoble, Southeastern France, Yanis fell in love with illustration, film, and photography before moving on to 3d work.\u00a0 Today, he lives in the UK with his beautiful wife and little boy.\u00a0 We were lucky enough to sit down with Yanis and learn more about his amazing craft.<\/p>\n<p><b>Can you tell us about your background and what lead you down the path to\u00a0 becoming an artist and ultimately experimenting with NFTs?\u00a0\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">My passion is for the more graphic forms of art. I love illustration, film, photography\u00a0 and all visual aspects of urban culture. Graffiti art in the 90\u2019s had a direct influence on\u00a0 my decision to become an artist. I studied art &amp; graphic design and then worked for\u00a0 various design studios and music labels in France. In early 2008, I created\u00a0 ethikdesign\u00a9, a Design &amp; Creative Studio based in my home town where I\u2019ve worked\u00a0 with many different clients, nationally and internationally. I\u2019ve collaborated on music\u00a0 videos, commercial design and artworks and have been lucky to work with some of\u00a0 the most famous brands and leading artists in the creative industry.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Aside from my more commercial work at ethikdesign, I\u2019ve also been involved in\u00a0 personal work including, \u2018Everyday Project\u2019 (2014-2016) and \u2018Never Stop\u00a0 Exploring\u2019 (2016 \u2013 and ongoing ). Working on new ideas on a daily basis is great\u00a0 exercise for my creative muscle and technical skills. It helps me to be disciplined but\u00a0 also keeps me creatively agile.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In March 2021, two dear friends and amazing artists in their own right, Archan Nair\u00a0 and Onyro, invited me into the NFT space. It was, for me, a game changer. What platform did you choose\u00a0 and why?\u00a0\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I minted my Genesis Collection \u201cMONDRIAN 3.0\u201d on SuperRare in April 2021. It\u2019s a\u00a0 series of 5 abstract figurative works exploring the human form. I deliberately used\u00a0 quite specific tints and tones, as a nod to the Dutch pioneer of 20<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">th<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">century abstract\u00a0 art and one of my favorite Artist, Piet Mondrian.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I worked on this collection while my application to be approved by the SuperRare\u00a0 Team was being processed. For me, tokenizing my art as a crypto-collectible on a\u00a0 curated platform is very special. It allows me access to collectors who appreciate the\u00a0 value of individual and limited artworks of high quality. SuperRare is a unique digital\u00a0 art platform where extraordinary artists meet sophisticated, keen-eyed collectors. I\u00a0 always feel SuperRare is where my journey began<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Can you tell us one thing you cannot live without? (and why)\u00a0\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ha! Good question! I\u2019ve got two answers. As an artist embedded in 21<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">st<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">century\u00a0 digital art I could not be without my computer and graphics tablets. But as a person,\u00a0 the only thing that truly matters is my family. They are the centre of my world, they\u00a0 ground me and give me meaning.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>What is the one piece of NFT art you wish you had purchased but missed out\u00a0 on?\u00a0\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Im a big fan of Alessio De Vecchi. His motion pieces are absolutely outstanding.\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Technogenic <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is one of my favorite.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>If you could travel anywhere in the world where would you go? Why this\u00a0 location?\u00a0\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Definitely, Canada ! Back in 2013, I travelled the globe with WorldRiderZ, filming and\u00a0 creating 3D content for their TV Show on TLC . WorldRiderZ strive to raise\u00a0 awareness of chronic kidney disease and organ transplant. It was an amazing time. I\u00a0 got to be on the road everyday for over three months traveling across Canada and\u00a0 the USA. The astonishing scenery, the vast, uninhabited landscapes of lakes, rivers\u00a0 and incredible wild life are things I will never forget. What a privilege.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>What are your other passions besides art? Why?\u00a0\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I love to dance. Well, it\u2019s more fun than the gym! I also love to go snowboarding\u00a0 when I can. And wherever I am in the world I always have to check out the local\u00a0 graffiti. There\u2019s so much inspiration out there.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>How did you come up with your specific style? How has your style evolved\u00a0 over the years?\u00a0\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I have spent the last decade experimenting with dramatic, living forms, bringing\u00a0 simple shapes to life. I\u2019ve been fascinated by the ambiguity of the organic and the\u00a0 inorganic and how these two seemingly distinct domains, sometimes overlap. Both of\u00a0 my projects, \u2018Everyday\u2019 and \u2018Never Stop Exploring\u2019 have helped me evolve my\u00a0 aesthetic style. It\u2019s also been fascinating how the evolution of digital technology has\u00a0 impacted on how I create work over the years, unlocking new ideas and new designs\u00a0 that would not have been technically possible just a few years ago.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>What is coming in the near future?\u00a0\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I think 2023 will be another year for experimentation. Maybe combining 3D &amp; AI,\u00a0 Dynamic NFT and Motion Graphics animation. So much to explore ! I cannot wait.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>If you could collaborate with one artist who would it be?\u00a0\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Any artists from the Bloom Collective ! They\u2019re all incredible.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bloom is a collective of some of the worlds brightest creative talents from the NFT\u00a0 industry . A design led collective that stands for the absolute highest levels of quality,\u00a0 integrity, and diversity.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Do you have any upcoming drops?\u00a0\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I have just released the most significant compilation of my work on my own smart\u00a0 contract, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/203.ethikdesign.art\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>The 203 Collection. A passing and a birth from Web.2 to Web.3. <\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A Collection of 203 1\/1s 3D Artworks with an <\/span><b>Exclusive Interactive Art Book <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2013\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">203 pieces representing over 8 years of digital creativity from my own personal\u00a0 portfolio and curated by the legends ROB MOIR (<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Chevy_Pop<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">)<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ArchanNair<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0 The collection is named \u201c203\u201d in reference to the transition from Web2 to Web3, and\u00a0 as part of this project, the original artworks will be erased from the web.
