President Joe Biden&#8217;s term doesn&#8217;t end until January 2025, but the future majority control of both the House of Representatives and Senate currently hangs in the balance, with a number of <a href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/crypto-focused-pac-has-used-9m-to-support-democratic-candidates-since-january\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">openly pro-crypto candidates<\/a> running. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cTwo thoughts on my mind in the voter\u2019s booth tomorrow,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MferBot420_69\/status\/1589717315012427776\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">said<\/a> Twitter user MetaSailor. \u201c1. What\u2019s the candidate\u2019s stance on Crypto? 2. What\u2019s the candidate\u2019s stance on decriminalizing Cannabis?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Though many Republican lawmakers and those in their base have <a href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/republican-lawmakers-call-for-answers-on-digital-dollar-from-fed-vice-chair\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">come out in support<\/a> of crypto-related regulations and policies, promoting adoption or a framework for digital assets is not limited to one side of the political aisle. President Biden, a Democrat, signed an executive order establishing a regulatory framework for digital assets in March, and members of his party have <a href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/bipartisan-bill-to-give-cftc-authority-over-exchanges-and-stablecoins\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">worked with Republican lawmakers<\/a> on stablecoin legislation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe need a few Dems and a few Republicans in Congress who want their States to be crypto friendly to pass a good bipartisan Bill that protects the rights of Americans to buy, sell, and hold crypto,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/CryptoCurrency\/comments\/yn8eog\/comment\/iv7k3ml\/?utm_source=share&amp;utm_medium=web2x&amp;context=3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">said<\/a> Reddit user Invest07723.<\/p>\n<figure><figcaption style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Source: <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CryptoD38958834\/status\/1589712109927301120\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Twitter<\/a><\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong><em>Related: <\/em><\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/us-election-update-where-do-the-pro-crypto-candidates-stand-ahead-of-the-election\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><em>US election update: Where do the pro-crypto candidates stand ahead of the election?<\/em><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s the most consequential election that crypto has ever had,\u201d Jeff Howard, North American head of business development at digital assets platform OSL, told Cointelegraph. \u201cIt will determine how crypto is regulated for many, many years to come.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to Howard, crypto has become a force to be reckoned with in elections due to a number of <a href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/crypto-focused-pac-has-used-9m-to-support-democratic-candidates-since-january\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">political action committees funding candidates<\/a> and crypto groups becoming \u201ca real voting block.\u201d However, the party that assumes control of the House or Senate could influence ongoing legislation on digital assets in the United States:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cDemocrats are more concerned about consumer protection and financial inclusiveness, where Republicans are more concerned about financial innovation and kind of a free market economy.\u201d <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>A survey initiated by asset management firm Grayscale in October suggested that roughly a third of U.S. voters <a href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/38-of-us-voters-will-consider-candidates-position-on-crypto-in-midterms-survey\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">planned to consider<\/a> political candidates\u2019 positions on crypto in the midterm elections.
