This comes as a surprise to many since the company specializes in issuing unique digital works. The BAKC collection is the third most popular project by Yuga Labs after the <a href=\"https:\/\/nftnewstoday.com\/2022\/11\/10\/bored-ape-propose-new-royalties-model\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Bored Ape Creators Propose A New Creator Royalties model\">Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC)<\/a> and Mutant Ape Yacht Club (MAYC), with a valuation of over $115 million.<\/p>\n<p>BAKC utilizes a wolf skull image for its logo. It turns out the image was originally designed by Easy Drawing Tutorial, a resource that educates individuals on how to draw images of different animals and objects. It took Twitter user \u201cCOLOMBO\u201d to notice the resemblance between the image and the BAKC logo. He would proceed to call out Yuga Labs, with Easy Drawing Tutorial being grateful for the gesture.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Thanks for bringing this up <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Jdotcolombo?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">@Jdotcolombo<\/a>. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/yugalabs?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">@yugalabs<\/a> doesn&#8217;t have a license to the wolf skull drawing. The intellectual property rights for the drawing belong to Easy Drawing Guides as it&#8217;s our original drawing and protected by our Terms and Conditions.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Easy Drawing Guides (@easydrawinguide) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/easydrawinguide\/status\/1626732448368451586?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">February 17, 2023<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Later on, Greg Solano, cofounder of <a href=\"https:\/\/nftnewstoday.com\/2023\/02\/07\/yuga-labs-inc-settles-lawsuit-with-developer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Yuga Labs<\/a>, would acknowledge the mistake but point the finger at the individual the company hired to design the logo. It turns out Yuga Labs sought the services of a freelance designer to help out with the logo but never did any background checks.<\/p>\n<h2>Yuga Labs To Remove And Replace BAKC Logo<\/h2>\n<p>Solano notes that they would be removing and replacing the logo from their website, and they would ask NFT marketplaces to do the same. Additionally, they had opened an investigation into the breach of intellectual property and contacted both the freelancer in question and Easy Drawing Tutorial.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Saw the claims today about the BAKC logo. But the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kraken.com\/learn\/what-is-bored-ape-kennel-club-nft\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">BAKC collection<\/a> was launched in the third week of June 2021.<\/p>\n<p>According to Solano, the BAKC collection wasn\u2019t meant for profit but to raise funds for animal charities. Since its launch in June 2021, the collection has raised over $1 million for these charities. However, the collection\u2019s website notes that only fees collected from secondary sales within the first six weeks would be donated.
