Unsurprisingly, this sparked numerous comments. On Twitter, Xero, a Web3 gaming specialist with over 16k followers, posted a tweet speculating about the imminent launch of Twitter NFTs.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIs Elon hinting at Twitter NFTs? Let\u2019s look at the timeline: 1. Elon removed the New York Times blue checkmark 2. Musk then swapped the Twitter icon for a Doge image 3. And he just shared a JPEG of an NFT created by 6529. Are we seizing control of information?\u201d, Xero tweeted. He added that he would share more about this theory later.<\/span><\/p>\n

Who is Punk 6529?<\/span><\/h2>\n

Even Beeple, the most renowned NFT artist, crafted an artwork inspired by Elon Musk\u2019s tweet and shared it on Twitter. 6529 immediately retweeted it. Currently, there\u2019s no further information about a potential collaboration between the prominent CryptoPunks owner and Twitter.<\/span><\/p>\n

6529 is a significant figure in the NFT space, followed by more than 447k people on Twitter. In addition to his online presence, he actively supports the development of an open metaverse. Consequently, he created \u201cOM<\/a>\u201c, a metaverse with the goal of \u201cbridging virtual and physical spaces that people use in their day-to-day lives.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

This is not the first time Elon Musk has shown interest in Web3 and cryptocurrencies. While it\u2019s challenging to predict what the capricious CEO will do, there\u2019s a possibility of seeing Web3 and NFT applications coming to the social network in the future.
