The event featured 25 female artists from around the world, presenting a diverse range of digital art.

The collective not only showcases art but also collaborates with artists to increase the value of their work and help them land in collectors’ portfolios. The first edition of the exhibition saw over 400 registrations and approximately 9 Ether in sales, while the second edition has already surpassed these numbers.

The GXRLS Revolution exhibition is a testament to the power of decentralization and the potential of NFTs in promoting diversity in the art world. The next exhibition is slated for the fall, with 25 new artists from the catalog set to be exhibited.

100 artists ready for the GXRLS Revolution

Co-founders Anne-Lise Stern and Jessy Jane curated this event, an initiative sparked by their observation of a stark lack of female representation in Parisian exhibitions.

Initially, they planned to create a list of 100 female NFT artists to watch. However, the project evolved into a comprehensive 280-page catalog, providing much-needed context on the place of women in art.

To assist in this monumental task, they invited three curators, Joséphine Louis, Léa Duham, and Marie-Odile. This approach allowed for a more diverse representation of digital art, as each curator brought their unique vision to the table.

“We try to make semi-decentralized choices,” explains Anne-Laure Stern. “The five curators are free to present what they want, and it brings five different visions. The works presented are not the same, and we try to have a good range of prices. Last time it started at 60 Tezos and went up to 5 Ether. We leave the choice to artists to mint on Tezos, due to the gas fees.”

The first edition of the exhibition saw over 400 registrations and approximately 9 Ether in sales. The second edition has already surpassed these numbers, with 1200 registrations and three artworks sold even before the exhibition’s start.

25 women artists from all over the world

The second exhibition is titled WAGMI, a well-known acronym in the Web3 world. It allowed each curator to interpret the theme in their way. This exhibition features 25 female artists from around the world. It includes well-known figures in the digital art space like Stella Belle and Ivona Tau. But also emerging talents like Alohaleila and Marine Blehaut.

“Web3 allows us to put on the same exhibition 25 artists who have never met, coming from all over the world,” points out Anne-Lise Stern. “They are at different moments in their career, which is not accepted in the traditional art world.”

GXRLS Revolution aims to do more than just showcase art. They want to collaborate with artists to increase the value of their work and help them land in collectors’ portfolios. “We thought that the catalog was not enough and that we had to collaborate with the artists so that their works sell for more,” explains JessyJane.

The collective has the backing of prominent figures. Art collector Jean-Michel Pailhon and Dan Polko, the man with 100 CryptoPunks, helped to organize the exhibition.

Among the artists is AlohaLeila, who has been working with GXRLS Revolution for some time. Her work is characterized by a fascination with symmetry. She describes it as a way to “put order in the chaos of images and my memories.”

Marine Blehaut, a multidisciplinary artist primarily working with video, is another participant. When she discovered NFTs, she realized she could use this medium for his video works. She is currently working on projects with AI, focusing on the theme of fragments, memory, and repressed memories.

The next exhibition is slated for the fall, with 25 new artists from the catalog that will be exhibited.

All investment/financial opinions expressed by NFTevening.com are not recommendations.

This article is educational material.

As always, make your own research prior to making any kind of investment.

Source link

Amidst the multitude of side events at EthCC Paris, one, in particular, stands out for its distinctive mission and representation: the GXRLS Revolution.
